Sense of nationhood to Indonesia very strong despite the fact that the Indonesian archipelago is spread from India to the Pacific Ocean, even tho Indonesia are separated by an ocean and many islands, the idea of a national of the Republic of Indonesia as an independent entity with a vengeance struggle, great devotion, blood and sweat to make Indonesia remains united to this day.

Battle of Surabaya
This was triggered by the assassination of Brigadier General AWS Mallaby on October 30, 1945. Afternath, which spreadout British army an ultimatum to surrender all weapons of militians Indonesia. The ultimatum expired on November 10, 1945. The militians refused to give up. The result, a major attack by land, sea and air by England on November 10.
British Army predicts that it will be completed in just 3 days. But if fact, it lasted for 3 weeks before being conquered by the UK on 29 November. It was the bloodiest battles and the most brutal Indonesian National Revolution (1945-1949). 6000 to 16.000 Indonesian militians 600-2000 KIA and British soldiers were killed. Not to mention more than 100,000 civilians were killed.
In commemorating those who died during the battle of 10 November has been declared National Heroes Day in Indonesia.
